2021 Decko Red Wine

Description

The 2021 Decko red wine is a medium-bodied, southern Rhone style blend of 5% Grenache, 50% Syrah and 45% Mourvèdre grapes. Often described as a GSM blend when produced in other regions. The grapes were grown at the Wheeler Vineyard in Yolo County.

The flavors include cherry and berry fruit, earthy notes and spices, including black pepper.

The grapes were fermented in open tops bins. The Grenache and Mourvèdre grapes were fermented together and the Syrah was fermented on it own. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 10 months, the Syrah about 25% of the time in a new barrel.
