2021 Petite Sirah

Description

The 2021 Petite Sirah is a blend of 80% Petite Sirah, 18% Mouvèdre and 2% Grenache grapes from the Wheeler Vineyard in Yolo County. The blend was inspired the Rhone origin of Petite Sirah and the blends of the southern Rhone.

The grapes were picked early in the window of ripeness to obtain a lighter and fresher wine. The alcohol is a very low 12.0%. The wine exhibits classic aromas of blueberries and violets that Petite Sirah is known for. It also shows some of the berry and earth commonly found in southern Rhone blends.

The grapes were fermented in open top bins with three times daily punch downs. The wine was aged in neutral French oak barrels for 10 months, blended and bottled.
